The cookies and similar technologies our website uses, and how to change your choices.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website saves in your browser. Other technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in a similar way. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), a website can use them without asking you only when they are strictly necessary for something you have asked for. Anything else needs your consent.
2. The short version
- Our website sets only strictly necessary cookies: one to remember your cookie choice, and some to keep you signed in to the student or staff portal.
- Our visitor counts use no cookies. They store no IP address, and they don’t follow you from one day to the next.
- We use no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics, such as Google Analytics. We don’t embed videos, maps or social media feeds that set cookies.
3. The cookies we use
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| gsc_consent | Remembers your cookie choices, so we don’t ask on every page | 6 months | Strictly necessary |

| wordpress_sec_ followed by a code | Keeps you securely signed in to the student or staff portal. Set only when you sign in. | Until you close your browser, or 14 days if you tick “Remember me” | Strictly necessary |
| wordpress_logged_in_ followed by a code | Shows the website that you are signed in. Set only when you sign in. | Until you close your browser, or 14 days if you tick “Remember me” | Strictly necessary |

| gstu_preview | Lets office staff preview the portal as a particular student. Read-only. Staff only. | 30 minutes | Strictly necessary |
Our hosting provider’s security service may set a short-lived, strictly necessary cookie when it checks traffic to protect the website from attacks.
No other storage. Our pages don’t use your browser’s local storage or session storage. If a form can’t be sent because something needs correcting, what you typed is kept on our server for 20 minutes, so you don’t have to type it again. Nothing is stored on your device.
Visitor counts without cookies. Our website counts page views to see which pages are useful. It saves nothing on your device and doesn’t store your IP address. Each visit is counted with an anonymous code that changes every day. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, you are not counted at all.
4. Optional cookies
Our cookie settings list three optional categories:
- Preferences: remember choices you make on the site.
- Analytics: help us understand how the site is used.
- Marketing and embedded content: videos, maps and social media from other companies.
At present, our website uses none of these. If we add something in one of these categories, such as an embedded YouTube video, it will load only after you allow that category. Until then, you see a short note in its place, with a button to allow it. We will update this page before adding anything.
5. Links to other websites
Our WhatsApp, map and social media buttons are plain links, and they set no cookies on our website. If you follow one, the other website’s own cookie policy applies. Online lessons take place on Zoom, which uses its own cookies under Zoom’s cookie policy.
6. How consent works
- Your first visit: a cookie notice appears. You can choose Essential only, choose Accept all, or pick categories and Save choices. Each option is equally easy to choose.
- How long your choice lasts: it is saved in the gsc_consent cookie on your device for 6 months. After that, we ask again.
- Portal pages: our student portal is provided for us by TargetGrade, a product of Gradespace Ltd, and runs on this website. The portal and its sign-in pages don’t show the notice, because they use only strictly necessary cookies.
7. Changing your mind
You can change your choices at any time. Use the cookie button at the bottom corner of any page, or open the cookie settings.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you won’t be able to sign in to the portal.
8. Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
